Supernatural had the most effect of the Gothic era. I believe this to be the most effective part included in the gothic time period because supernatural, in dictionary terms, is an object or person pertaining to, characteristic of, or attributed to God or a deity. In other words, a spirit of some sort, whether good or bad. Supernatural creates a horrific vibe within a passage or story because human beings are terrified of what they do not know, nor can do. Supernatural beings have certain powers and can do things that human beings can not. In almost every gothic story, the supernatural plays a significant part. From, someone being possessed, to the dead coming back to life, supernatural presence makes up the entire setting for a gothic story. This is why I believe that supernatural is most important attribute to gothic literature
